Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Southwest Suburban Center on Aging (SWSCOA). Only with a dedicated group of volunteers can we offer a range of programs and services every month to the more than 8000 individuals and families that we serve each year. Volunteering is a source of great satisfaction for those who participate. Following are some of the major volunteer groups with brief descriptions. If you would like to volunteer or would like more information on these activities, please stop by the Center on Aging, or call us at 708-354-1323, ext.12 or email: mkovach@swscoa.org.
Please use the 2007-2008 Volunteer Form.

The Red Tape Cutter Program.  This is a program that helps seniors "cut through the red tape" of applying for various benefits for which they may be eligible.  Training is provided to learn the various programs. This is a very fulfilling opportunity to share your time and talents.  Please contact Polly Maschinski, Benefits Advocate at 708-354-1323,  ext. 20 or email: pmaschinski@swscoa.org.

Telephone Receptionist.  The time commitment is four hours per week, 8:30 am –12:30 pm or 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm.  The receptionist is responsible for receiving incoming calls and directing calls to the appropriate person or office.  Please call Marilyn Kovach, 708-354-1323, ext. 12 or email: mkovach@swscoa.org.

Clerical Worker.  Responsibilities involve assisting administrative staff with clerical duties including filing, computer data entry; helping with mass mailings and other general office work. Please call Marilyn Kovach, 708-354-1323, ext. 12 or email: mkovach@swscoa.org.

Annual Gala Committee.   The Sports Ball Benefit Gala is the annual fundraising event for the Southwest Suburban Center on Aging. It will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at La Grange Country Club. Individuals are needed to solicit silent auction items, recruit sports celebrities, package auction items and assist on the evening of the event.  Please call Niki Chibucos, 708-354-1323, ext. 26 or email: nchibucos@swscoa.org

Make a Donation

We invite you to support SWSCOA’s services and programs by making a donation. Because of recent cuts in funding on all levels, the raising of funds is critical. Our organization must raise 50% of our budget in order to continue to offer excellent programs to assist older adults. Please access our donation form. Thank you.
